Every Thursday morning, we will meet as wives, girlfriends, fiancees, or women and pray for our men. We will work through the book, Praying God’s Will For My Husband, by Lee Roberts and praying through a different attitude each time.

During the summer months, we host an outdoor church service on the last Sunday of the month. (Next Outdoor Service – August 25th)

We gather on the lawn outside of the River Center, worship together, and even have a river baptism, weather and water-flow/temperature permitting.

On Sunday, July 28th, we had the honor of having Pastor Ed Young join us from Calvary Church Aurora. He and his family are dear friends and mentors to our pastors and church body.

Forgiveness

He shared a powerful message about forgiveness with us. We were encouraged to let go of any hurts, anger, bitterness or resentment and forgive those who have wronged us. This allows true healing and freedom to take place in our own hearts and offers an opportunity for reconciliation in our relationships with family members, friends, and church members.

After the time of worship and teaching, we all headed down to the river to see Jesse, a new believer and friend get baptized. It was a true delight to see his joy and love for Jesus shine.

Our next outdoor service will be on Sunday, August 25th. Let us know if you would be interested in getting baptized during this time or if you have any questions.

Prayer Ride

summit yl prayer ride

We want to saturate our kids and schools in prayer before the school year starts.

Young Life is inviting parents and community members to join us as we ride to Summit County’s intermediate and secondary schools. We’ll stop at each school for a time of prayer.

We’ll start with prayer at SHS. We’ll ride to SMS and Snowy Peaks where we’ll pray for the students and faculty at those school. Our 2nd leg will take us to the Peak School to pray.

The journey ends with a ride back to SHS. If participants aren’t feeling the climb back to SHS, a car ride is available.

Young Life and WyldLife Club Kick-Off Meetings

We are kicking off our Club meetings with great events early this school year.

Please encourage your teenagers to come and bring as many friends as they can. Let Katie know if you need or can help with carpooling students. You can call her at 720-539-5890

We had an amazing night with Ben Greer, Haakon George and Coffee Depot. We love doing life together.

One of my favorite things to do is go riding with other women. I enjoy speeding down the trails with long-time riders or introducing the sport to beginners and watching them learn.

Mountain Bike Mondays for women in Summit County is the perfect opportunity for both.

Follow them on Facebook to find out more about their rides and meeting locations.

Need a Bike?

Christy Sports (Lone Star Sports) at the River Center graciously donates bike rentals for beginners. Just visit them before 5 PM so they can fit you with a bike and helmet, and return it within 24 hours. Please tip them if you are able to for their kindness and generosity.

History Of MBM (from Facebook)

Mountain Bike Mondays was started in 2008 by Erika Tieszen. She had a vision to start a group ride for women in Summit County and here is how it all started:

“I want you all to picture this… about 11 years ago a girl walked into a bike store in Grand Island, NE and was sold a x-large red Raleigh… She loved the way it looked. She moved to Denver, Co to go to the performing arts school, and her roommates decided to take her on a crazy technical bike ride in the front range and she went… fighting the whole time about having to wear a helmet. She didn’t want to look like an idiot… I bet she was wearing running shorts or some kind of soccer shorts and running shoes… that was me. Clueless but determined… I crashed hard on some 2 foot rock steps that to this day I probably can’t get over. It took 1 year to get me back on a bike. I was terrified and I think that is what happens to most of us girls.” – Erika Tieszen

This being said, she went on to become a very successful endurance mountain bike racer. From her experience she knew what it was like to be new to mountain biking. Her vision was to create a safe environment for women to be encouraged and to learn and progress. From the gal who has never ridden a bike to the Pro’s, all are welcome. This is a fun, safe and encouraging place to ride bikes together. No pressure, and best of all its girl time!

We will work on skills, learn about bike maintenance and learn the trails in our own backyard. This is what Erika intended. She moved in 2010 but Mountain Bike Mondays continued. Mainly for selfish reasons, I did not want the fun to end. I gained so much from being a part of this group that I wanted to continue to share this experience with others. So it continues and we are loving every minute of it. I hope you will join us!

Join us Next Monday!

One of our favorite community outreach events each year happens on Main Street on the 4th of July for the start of the Firecracker Fifty and the Parade.

Beloved Boutique graciously opens her storefront so our church can host a waffle breakfast for the crowds. We serve waffles to over 500 people as they are waiting for the parade to begin.

It is a great joy to meet new people as well as reconnect with those who return each year, visiting from other places around the country.

We get to watch the racers take off on their bikes for the Firecracker Fifty and cheer them on.
